RESEARCH

If you are looking to partner with Jacob's Voice or Jacob

We exist to inspire deeper
thinking, elevate understanding,
and pursue meaningful progress
for children navigating autism.

The following research areas have informed the perspective of Jacob’s Voice. These studies reflect ongoing efforts to better understand the biological, neurological, and systemic contributors to autism.

We present this information as part of a broader commitment to inquiry — not as definitive conclusions.

These references represent areas of alignment and exploration within a systems-based understanding of autism.

Jacob’s Voice was not built on a single study, a single theory, or a single experience. It was built on a pattern — a pattern observed over time through careful attention, disciplined questioning, and a refusal to accept incomplete explanations.

Autism is often described in terms of behavior.
We believe behavior is an output — not the origin.

Our work is grounded in the idea that meaningful progress requires looking beneath the surface. This includes exploring the biological, neurological, and systemic factors that may influence how a child processes information, regulates their environment, and expresses themselves.

We approach research with humility and discipline.

We recognize that:
• No single model explains everything
• Not all emerging ideas are proven
• Not all established ideas are complete

But we also recognize that progress is found by those willing to look deeper.

OUR APPROACH
TO RESEARCH

WHAT WE MEAN BY "RESEARCH"

At Jacob’s Voice, research is not limited to published literature.

It includes:

• Peer-reviewed studies
• Clinical observations
• Longitudinal patterns
• Careful tracking of change over time
• Cross-disciplinary insight

We believe research is strongest when it connects data with observation.

Not everything measurable is meaningful.
Not everything meaningful is immediately measurable.

Our goal is to bring those two together.

KEY AREAS OF FOCUS

🔄 Systems & Regulation

Exploring how different systems of the body interact — including the nervous system, immune response, and internal regulation mechanisms. We are particularly interested in how instability or dysregulation may impact behavior and communication.

🗣 Expression & Voice
Understanding the difference between cognition and expression — and exploring why a child’s internal awareness may not always match their external ability to communicate.

🧬 Metabolic & Biochemical Factors Investigating how internal processes influence function, including energy production, nutrient utilization, and biochemical balance.

🌿 Gut–Brain Connection
Reviewing research that explores how digestion, microbiome composition, and systemic health may influence neurological outcomes.

🧠 Neurological Function & Communication
Understanding how the brain processes information, coordinates movement, and enables expression. This includes examining factors that may influence speech, motor planning, and cognitive output.

Our Position

We do not claim to have all the answers.

We do not promote a single solution.

We do believe: Progress becomes possible when inquiry becomes disciplined.
